Even today, physical model tests play the most important role in R&D of fluid dynamics in hydraulic turbines and pump-turbines. We have three universal test rigs for performance tests, one actual head test rig for the measurements of resonance point and fluctuating stress in the pump-turbine runner, and one special test rig for the water with solid particles at our Hitachi Hydraulic Laboratory.
The universal test rigs are used not only for contractual acceptance tests in accordance with IEC 60193-1999 or JIS B 8103-1989, but for basic experimental research on cavitation and pressure fluctuation.
Hitachi Hydraulic Laboratory is run under the quality management system standard ISO 9001:2000.
